Type a five-letter word and press Enter. Each tile then tells you something: green means the letter is in the right place, yellow means it is in the word but somewhere else, grey means it is not in the word at all. You have six guesses.
Daily and unlimited
The daily word is the same for everyone and changes at midnight UTC; your streak counts consecutive daily wins. Unlimited mode gives you a fresh word whenever you want and does not touch your streak.
Hints
Truly stuck? A hint reveals one letter in its correct position. On the free site a hint costs a short video ad, and you can always say no.
Tips from people who win a lot
- Open with a word that has common vowels and consonants: CRANE, SLATE and AUDIO are popular for a reason.
- Use your second guess to test new letters rather than to guess the answer, unless the first row was very lucky.
- Remember that letters can repeat: a yellow E does not mean there is only one E.
